Where you go
–
Flight seeing tours are popular across Alaska. The
majesty of the Alaskan landscape is best seen from the air, and air
charters and taxis abound anywhere there is something to see in
Alaska.
|
What You
See –
Visitors can take a flight to see Mt.
McKinley, including a landing on the glaciers that flank the
mountain. Some visitors take combination flight seeing and bear
viewing tours, where you land and watch bears feeding on salmon.
There are flights to see the mountains and glaciers of
Wrangell
– St. Elias National Park.
In southeast Alaska, one can take a flight
over Glacier Bay National Park, Misty Fjords National Monument,
or the glaciers and ice fields around Juneau.
Just about anything that you can imagine
would be a spectacular sight from the air, you can find a
charter to take you there.

What You Eat
–
Most flight seeing tours are short enough that no
meals are provided. In addition, some people prefer not to eat before
they take a flight on a small plane. When going on a bear viewing
tour, you are often away for several hours, and guests are encouraged
to bring their own food along.
What You Bring –
Guests should bring clothing appropriate for
chilly weather, especially on flights where there is a landing
on a glacier. However, the amount of gear that you can bring is
limited when flying on a small plane. Guests should check with
their air taxi about the specific items that they should include
with them. Cameras are always a good idea for flight seeing
tours.
