About KL5O   Corliss, AL1G and her husband Frank, KL7FH (SK) wanted to have a special event that would honor Alaska's 50th Anniversary of statehood.  At first they were going to use the club call KL7DX for the event.  But then they decided that a special call would be better. They tossed ideas back and forth about what would be a good callsign.  It was Frank who suggested KL5O.    Corliss, AL1G and Frank, KL7FH For the QSL card design, they decided to use the image of the special commemorative license plate that was made available to Alaska residents in January 2009.
