About Alaska Day

Alaska Day is celebrated in observance of the anniversary of the transfer of Alaska to the United States from Russia. The official transfer took place October 18, 1867 in the town of Sitka.

Alaska Day celebrations are held in Sitka, and you can find more information about these at the Alaska Day Festival website.

Hams in Alaska have decided to observe Alaska Day with our twelve-hour special event. For more information, follow the Special Event Station Link.
